Rootd Ventures backs exceptional Indian engineers and operators building technology for the physical economy.
We invest at the pre-seed and seed stages in companies solving difficult problems across advanced manufacturing, industrial automation, industrial software, energy, water, climate infrastructure, and dual-use technologies.
These are not businesses built on hype or short-term market trends. They require genuine engineering, demanding customers, technical validation, and patient execution. Their defensibility is created through intellectual property, proprietary technology, manufacturing capability, certification, customer qualification, deployment experience, and hard-earned industrial data.
We look for companies that can move from prototype to paid pilot, from pilot to repeatable industrial adoption, and ultimately from India to global markets.
Our investment lens is built around six questions:
- Is the problem genuinely difficult?
- Does the technology create a durable advantage?
- Is there a demanding customer willing to pay?
- Can the company build a meaningful moat?
- Is this the right founder to solve this problem?
- Can the business become a globally relevant company?
Rootd partners with founders from the earliest institutional stage, providing more than capital. We support technical diligence, customer validation, commercialisation, strategic hiring, manufacturing partnerships, follow-on fundraising, and access to industrial customers and ecosystem partners.
We believe India’s engineering talent, manufacturing depth, industrial demand, and growing global relevance are creating a new generation of technology companies. Rootd exists to help these companies cross the difficult gap from invention to adoption—and from promising technology to enduring business.
We back the engineers building what the next economy will depend on.
What we do not invest in
We do not invest in businesses that rely solely on commoditised technology, contract manufacturing, subsidy economics, government procurement, or short-term market momentum. We seek technology-led companies with a credible path to repeatable revenue, scalable economics, and global relevance.
